It is based on the pre-existence of a detached single-family house on a plot in the Riviera de Mijas urbanisation, partially reusing the structure of the construction dating from 1975. The resulting building enhances the value of its location, on top of a gentle urbanised hill facing the sea. The programme consists of a low covered basement floor, which serves as a gymnasium and maintenance area for the house. The rest of the volume is made up of a ground floor, accessed by a spiral staircase in the form of a promenade that connects the garden and the swimming pool with the house. The first floor is structured behind a belvedere terrace overlooking the garden and the pool with organic forms that blend into the sea. The house is reaffirmed through the use of materials close to the area, such as lime and marble, from local distributors in order to avoid CO2 emissions from transport as much as possible, with the aim of achieving an architectural performance that integrates a contemporary, unitary image with a strong Mediterranean character.
